The Gulf Coast region of Mississippi, encompassing Gulfport, Biloxi, and Ocean Springs, offers a variety of scenic walking and hiking trails suitable for all skill levels. Here are some top recommendations

  • Beach Boulevard Path

This expansive sidewalk stretches over 40 miles along the Gulf Coast, connecting Ocean Springs to Bay St. Louis. It provides walkers and runners with continuous views of the Gulf, sandy beaches, and access to local attractions. 

  • Davis Bayou Area – Gulf Islands National Seashore

Situated in Ocean Springs, the Davis Bayou Area features several interconnected trails, including the Davis Bayou Trail and Nature’s Way Loop Trail. These paths meander through coastal woodlands and salt marshes, offering opportunities to observe local wildlife and enjoy serene bayou views. 

  • Brickyard Bayou Bike Trail

Opened in October 2020 in Gulfport, this area offers 3 miles of winding dirt trails suitable for casual walks and biking. The trails are divided into sections for casual users, BMX enthusiasts, and children.

A gravel road adjacent to the trail provides scenic views of the bayou.

  • Front Beach Walking Path

Located in Ocean Springs, this 2.1-mile paved trail runs along Front Beach Drive, offering views of the Biloxi Bay Bridge, Deer Island, and the Mississippi Sound. The path passes through Fort Maurepas Park, which has a pavilion, benches, and restrooms. Two piers and several volleyball nets are available adjacent to the trail

  • ​Tuxachanie National Recreation Trail

Approximately 12 miles long, this trail traverses the De Soto National Forest, passing through diverse wetland environments, including sloughs, creeks, and swamps. It’s a favored spot for hikers seeking a longer, nature-immersed experience. 

  • Popp’s Ferry Causeway Park

Located in Biloxi, this park features walking paths that offer picturesque views of the surrounding waterways. It’s a tranquil spot for leisurely strolls and bird-watching. Before visiting, it’s advisable to check the current conditions and any access guidelines for these trails to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
